ISLAMABAD – President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, has urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to allocate sufficient funds and commence immediate development work in the commercial markets of the capital.
Addressing various delegations of traders, Qureshi highlighted several long-standing issues affecting the city’s commercial hubs, including non-operational streetlights, damaged footpaths, inadequate clean drinking water, lack of public restrooms, blocked sewer lines, and poor sanitation.
He reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to advocating for the business community, stating that the Chamber is actively engaged in resolving these challenges, promoting business-friendly policies, and pushing for improved infrastructure to support economic growth.
Qureshi emphasized that industrialists and traders contribute significantly to the CDA’s revenue through various taxes, making them key stakeholders in the city’s development. He stressed that the CDA is duty-bound to upgrade the markets with modern facilities to support smooth commercial operations and enhance the overall ease of doing business.
He further noted that the business community had fully cooperated with the CDA in removing encroachments and now expects the authority to reciprocate by launching long-overdue development projects to revitalize the markets and create a more functional and respectable environment.
Qureshi concluded by reiterating ICCI’s vision to transform Islamabad into a model city for business and investment, both locally and internationally.
