LAHORE: Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokhar has directed the Housing and Urban Development Department to prepare a comprehensive plan for the regularisation of illegal housing societies in the province.
The directions were issued at a meeting at the office of Housing and Urban Development Department on Thursday.
The chief secretary stated that lessons should be learnt from past mistakes, as the matter of regularizing illegal housing societies has long been delayed, which needs immediate attention now. Additionally, the public service delivery also needs to be improved in Water and Sanitation Agencies, of which solarisation of water supply system is the most important issue. For this purpose, Rs200m had already been allocated in the annual budget.
He also said that commercialisation in cities is an important and much-needed factor that should be a computerised process, but only in areas where appropriate planning is in place
