Islamabad tops London, Paris, Sydney amongst safe cities

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is now ranked amongst the  safest places to live in, surpassing some of the more famous cities around the world, including London, Paris, Sydney, Berlin, Moscow, and Shanghai.

This was inferred from a report in the World Crime Index, a regularly updated list published by Numbeo, which is a crowd-sourced global database of reported consumer prices, perceived crime rates, quality of health care and other statistics.

The findings were issued after Numbeo conducted a survey in 374 cities with 799,900 participants. As per the report, the capital of Pakistan has witnessed a decrease of around 4% in the crime rate.

Inspector-General of Police Islamabad Mohammad Aamir Zulfiqar hailed the report, claiming that the decline in criminal activities was a direct result of his department’s effective strategy.

According to the spokesperson of Islamabad Police, the crime rate in the city has dropped by 13% in 2019, while cases of burglary, snatching, kidnapping for ransom, and robbery have decreased substantially.
