Karachi: The Sindh government launches an ambitious plan to develop Keenjhar Lake into a prime destination for water sports and tourism. Situated near the Thatta District, this lake will soon embody the government’s vision of increased tourism within the region.
Sindh’s Culture and Tourism Minister, Zulfiqar Shah, confirmed that water sports activities will soon commence on a trial basis, with plans to introduce regular water sports and paragliding in the near future. The announcement came during a steering committee meeting led by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, where extensive discussions on Keenjhar Lake’s development took place.
During the meeting, a presentation by the Kuwait Investment Agency outlined the vision for a state-of-the-art resort at the lake. Minister Imtiaz Shaikh emphasized the government’s dedication to transforming Keenjhar Lake into a premier tourist destination by incorporating modern amenities and facilities. He underscored the strategic importance of the lake’s vast 24 km expanse, which offers ample space for the resort’s development and related activities.
The proposed resort aims to attract a significant number of local and international tourists with its advanced infrastructure and recreational offerings. Minister Shaikh highlighted that the project’s completion is expected to significantly boost both domestic tourism and foreign exchange earnings, positioning Keenjhar Lake as a key attraction in the region.
This development is a testament to the Sindh government’s proactive approach in leveraging the province’s natural assets to foster economic growth and enhance the tourism sector. With the introduction of cutting-edge water sports facilities and a modern resort, Keenjhar Lake is poised to become a sought-after destination for adventure enthusiasts and leisure travelers alike.
