KP Government approves Rs1.5 billion for sports facilities in tribal districts

Peshawar: An approval of Rs1.5 billion has been made by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the building and rehabilitation of sports infrastructure in the merged tribal districts.

Senior Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mohammad Atif Khan said the government had given a go ahead to for several projects. These include playgrounds, indoor gymnasiums and up gradation of sport facilities. Two new sports complexes and hostels for sportspersons have been approved for under Rs257 million. Another Rs250 million will be utilized for work on sport stadiums. The Bajaur sports complex will be constructed at a cost of Rs151 million while Rs40 million will be consumed for its up-gradation. District sports complex will be put up at a cost of Rs94.44 million. Rs106.416 million will be used for the construction of a sports complex in Ramzat.

The development schemes valuing rupees half a billion were part of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for North Waziristan. Other projects approved worth one billion for other tribal districts stand strong with the aim of youth development.

The respective development and up-gradation will be targeting all the seven districts including Khyber, Orakzai, Mohmand, Bajaur, North and South Waziristan, Khurram. Six sub-divisions including Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan are also a part.
