The proposal was reviewed during a meeting where officials discussed the proposed route, planning details and key logistical considerations for the road project.

According to officials, the new ring road will pass through several southern areas of Peshawar and is intended to divert traffic away from crowded urban corridors, providing smoother travel for commuters and improving overall traffic management in the city.

The chief minister directed authorities to include appropriate interchanges along the route to maintain efficient traffic flow and ensure the road meets future transportation demands. Officials were also instructed to coordinate with the National Highway Authority (NHA) to establish an interchange at the Peshawar Bus Terminal, allowing buses to access the terminal directly without entering the city’s main traffic zones.

During the meeting, the possibility of adding a dedicated track for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along the outer ring road was also discussed. The proposal aims to strengthen the city’s public transport network and offer residents a modern transit solution.

Officials said the proposed outer ring road forms part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to enhance urban mobility, ease congestion and support sustainable transport infrastructure in Peshawar.
