Lahore Divisional Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood visited the site to review progress and chaired a meeting attended by high-ranking officials, including CEO of the Central Business District (CBD) Imran Ameen, Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza, CEO Walton, and representatives from key departments such as the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and the Traffic Police.

Project managers from CBD and the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) provided a detailed update, confirming that the main road is now fully prepared, with asphalt being laid at a rate of 1,100 tons per day. Streetlight poles are being installed at a rapid pace, while 1,500 meters of electrical cables are being placed daily. Landscaping efforts along green belts are also progressing steadily.

Infrastructure improvements include the completion of 4.2 kilometers of trunk sewer lines, replacing an outdated drainage system to mitigate flooding and ensure efficient water management. Additionally, the newly constructed Major Ishaq Shaheed Flyover, spanning 510 meters, is now operational, offering significant relief to daily commuters by easing congestion along Walton Road.

To streamline traffic flow, Commissioner Maqsood directed TEPA and CBD authorities to finalize lane markings and road signage promptly. He also instructed NESPAK, the Traffic Police, and TEPA to conduct a joint site visit to redesign U-turns for improved vehicular movement. Meanwhile, the PHA was tasked with increasing workforce allocation for horticultural enhancements along the road’s medians.

Highlighting the importance of Walton Road as a critical link between Ferozepur Road and Defence, Commissioner Maqsood underscored the urgency of completing the remaining work efficiently. Once fully operational, the upgraded Walton Road is expected to significantly improve commuting conditions, reduce traffic bottlenecks, and provide a modernized transit corridor for residents and businesses alike.

With the project entering its final stretch, authorities remain focused on ensuring its timely completion, marking a major milestone in Lahore’s ongoing urban development efforts.
