The initiative was approved by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with LDA Director General Tahir Farooq calling it “another gift for the people of Lahore.” He noted that the new roads will help relieve pressure on major arteries such as Nazria Pakistan Road, Peco Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Jinnah Hospital Road, and several routes in Johar Town.

Project details show the four new roads include:

  • Southern Corridor (Neelum Road): A 13.8 km link between LDA City and Pine Avenue, divided into two phases and featuring an underpass at Jaya Bagga Road railway crossing. The Rs6.93 billion project will have two carriageways and two lanes, with completion targeted in six months.
  • Expo Centre to Khayaban-e-Jinnah: A 4.75 km, three-lane carriageway with solar-powered LED lights, footpaths, and a central drainage system, at an estimated cost of Rs1.61 billion.
  • Shadiwal Chowk to Ghaffar Chowk: A 1.5 km dual carriageway with two lanes, solar lighting, pedestrian walkways, and drainage facilities, costing Rs455.9 million.
  • Shoq Chowk to Doctor Hospital: A 2.13 km road already inaugurated, featuring two lanes, solar lighting, sewer lines, and walkways, with a project cost of Rs653.9 million.

According to LDA officials, the roads are expected to benefit millions of daily commuters by significantly reducing traffic bottlenecks across Lahore once operational.
