LDA gives nod to commercial activities on ten main roads

LAHORE: While chairing a meeting of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) governing body, Vice-chairman Naeem-ul-Haq approved commercial activities on ten main roads of the provincial capital.

The roads approved under the plan include Barki Road, From Thokar Niaz Baig to Defence Road on Raiwind Road, Model Town Link Road to Railways Crossing on Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Canal Road to Wapda Town on Johar Town Bypass Road, Shaukat Khanum Road to Raiwind Road on Khayaban-e-Jinnah Road, Multan Road to Raiwind Road on Defence Road, Link Raiwind Road to PIA Extension on PIA Road, Jail Road to Mall Road on Maulana Zafar Ali Road and Thokar Niaz Beig to Shahkam Chowk on Canal Road.

In addition, the governing body gave the nod to the commercialisation on nine roads, including Abu Al-Hassan Isfahani Road (Faisal Town roundabout till Akbar Chowk), Qazi Issa Road, Campus Bridge Road, Tollinton Market Road, Hamdard Jail Road, Shah Jillani Road and Wahdat Road, after their reclassification.

The meeting highlighted various issues in Lahore, including affectees of LDA Avenue-1, conversion of 23 kanals residential land into graveyard under the administration of Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority, and increasing area size for development projects. 

Decisions regarding development projects were also taken in the meeting, which consisted of conversion of  55-Ain Allama Iqbal Town petrol pump site into a commercial project and two blocks in Rachna Block Allama Iqbal Town allotted to Municipal Corporation of Lahore (MCL)

For the Model Green Building construction, the LDA in the meeting approved to allot land of 10 kanals to EPD (Punjab Environmental Protection Department). 

This meeting resulted in holding another one, discussing the issues between private and state owners of land in Mustafa Town.
