According to details, the decision was made during a meeting of the Judicial Commission on Water and Environment in Lahore. The meeting announced that amendments are to be made to the LDA building bylaws.

The Director-General (DG) of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) provided an update to the commission’s member, Syed Kamal Haider, on the LDA’s efforts to protect the environment during the city’s ongoing development projects.

He further stated that the LDA, along with other departments such as the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Traffic Police, and Municipal Corporation Lahore (MCL), would work together to reduce environmental pollution as per court orders.

He also mentioned that all agencies would receive a timetable to ensure that they follow the court’s directives.

In addition, he highlighted that initiatives had been introduced to encourage rooftop gardening under corporate social responsibility to further support environmental sustainability.

The recent update comes amid increasing concerns about the environmental impact of Lahore’s rapid urbanization, with many experts calling for a greater focus on sustainable development practices.

The LDA’s efforts to reduce environmental pollution and promote sustainable initiatives are important steps towards achieving this goal.
