LDA posts 44% surge in revenue under CM’s vision

Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has achieved a record-breaking 44% increase in revenue during the fiscal year 2024–25, collecting approximately Rs27 billion—up from Rs18.9 billion the previous year. The significant rise comes under the strategic direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, whose vision prioritizes institutional reform and improved public service delivery.

This marks the highest revenue generation in LDA’s history, driven by an Rs8.1 billion year-on-year increase. The boost is attributed to structural reforms and enhanced administrative performance, particularly under the leadership of Director General Tahir Farooq. He credited the achievement to streamlined regulations, a business-friendly approach, and the adoption of corporate-style governance aligned with the Ease of Doing Business initiative.

A major portion of the revenue—Rs7.5 billion—was raised through land auctions and sales, which included four major auctions and three balloting events throughout the year. The Town Planning Wing contributed Rs12 billion, exceeding its previous performance by Rs4 billion. For the first time, nearly Rs1 billion was also collected in penalties for unauthorized commercial activities.

DG Tahir Farooq emphasized the Authority’s commitment to maintaining this growth trajectory through enhanced enforcement against illegal construction, better investor facilitation, and consistent regulatory reform.

Officials added that these financial gains will allow LDA to reinvest in Lahore’s infrastructure and urban development, with plans to expand digitization, promote compliance, and implement stricter monitoring to support the provincial government’s broader institutional reform agenda.
