LDA prepares new commercialization policy for land use

LAHORE: In a bid to promote commercial activities in all the four districts of Lahore Division, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has prepared a new commercialization policy under the Land Use Regulations 2020.

The regulations were approved under the supervision of the chief minister.

The policy is directed to promote a business-friendly environment and generate employment, informed LDA Vice-Chairman SM Imran.

The new regulations have exempted certain services and private practices from payment of commercialization fee.

In addition, doctors, engineers, architects and other experts providing consultancy services can now utilize 25 per cent of the covered area of their houses, without paying commercialization fee to LDA, to utilize for this purpose.

The authority has waived off commercialization fees for charity organizations and NGOs to encourage public service in the districts.

Under the regulations, the authority has allowed the establishment of new commercial centres – “Area Development Project”, spreading on an area of 24 Kanal to 200 Kanal to facilitate commercial plazas, restaurants, showrooms, offices, etc.
