The principal contents of the master plan revolve around the details of functional, planning and administrative boundaries of Lahore city.

Additionally, information about a project on the plantation of 5.13 million trees during next four years was also provided.

It was learnt that the LDA is mulling the passage of a law that will make it mandatory for the owners of one-kanal houses to plant at least 10 trees in their premises.

Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid had earlier voiced his concern over felling of trees in different parts of Lahore, questioning the effectiveness of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). The judge reprimanded a PHA official for his ignorance about a local hotel management chopping down trees by a hotel management on Edgerton Road.

Expressing unease over the growing boundaries of Lahore, Rashid observed that the city ought to be renamed ‘LDA’.
