
LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on the directions of the Lahore High Court held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the reconstruction of nine major roads for the betterment of citizens.
Director General LDA Aamir Ahmad Khan chaired the meeting while Chief Metropolitan Planner Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi, PHA, Traffic Police, Chief Town Planner Shakeel Anjum Minhas, Director Tepa, Town Directors, ADC Lahore, MCL, Lesco representatives, Advocate Supreme Court Syed Moazzam Ali Shah, Advocate Khadija Amjad Wazir, Deputy Director Law Qasim Abbas Bhatti and other essential stakeholders were in attendance.
As per sources, the nine major roads would be upgraded as model roads which will be completed in phases. The first phase would include the construction of Main Boulevard Allama Iqbal Town and G1 Road Johar Town.
According to the LDA DG, the main aim of the plan was to ease traffic congestion, solve parking issues and curb environmental pollution.
Speaking on the occasion, DG Aamir stated that steps would be taken to lawfully enforce the elimination of encroachments from schools, hospitals, restaurants, institutions and other commercial buildings.
He further mentioned that buildings that have repeatedly ignored the SOPs will be sealed and strict action will be taken against the owners.
