Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced plans to launch development works in the vicinity of Lahore Railway Station, adopting a sustainable urban model to enhance infrastructure and liveability in the area.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by LDA Director General Tahir Farooq on Wednesday, attended by officials from the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) and Nespak. The participants were briefed on proposed designs for redevelopment within a three-kilometre radius of the station.
As per LDA officials, the project divides the surrounding areas into multiple zones, each with specific development interventions. Planned works include constructing pedestrian walkways, installing solar-powered streetlights, laying underground utility and internet cables, and upgrading the stormwater drainage network. The initiative also focuses on removing encroachments, improving sanitation, and revitalising commercial and transport corridors.

Director General Farooq stated that the project aligns with the Punjab chief minister’s directives and aims to deliver long-term, sustainable upgrades to Lahore’s inner-city infrastructure and public spaces.
