Major projects worth Rs24bn approved for Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government, on Sunday, allocated Rs24 billion in the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2021- 2021 for several development schemes in Rawalpindi.

As per sources, the government has earmarked  Rs16 billion for the construction of Ring Road, Kohsar University, Daducha Dam and modern graveyard. 

According to details, the Ring Road project would be completed under a public-private partnership (PPP) whereas the executive agency will be Punjab Ring Road Authority (PRRA). The project is expected to extend from GT Road to Thalian motorway. 

In addition, Rs8 billion have been allocated for the development of Murree. A 57-kilometre gas pipeline will be installed in Murree while a 38-km one will be initiated in Rawalpindi. 

Furthermore, funds have been reserved in the fiscal budget for the construction of Daducha dam worth Rs5 billion.
