Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the allotment process for free flats to industrial workers, describing it as a landmark initiative under her labour welfare agenda.
As part of the scheme, applications are now being accepted for 750 residential units at the Workers Welfare Complex in Sundar Industrial Estate, Kasur (Phase-I). A special quota has been reserved for widows of deceased workers (3%) and disabled workers (2%).
In the initial phase, eligible applicants include industrial workers from Lahore and Kasur districts, with two-thirds of the quota earmarked for Kasur and one-third for Lahore. The deadline for submitting applications is September 8.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that workers can download application forms from the official websites — www.pwwf.punjab.gov.pk and www.labour.punjab.gov.pk — or obtain them free of cost from the offices of the Director Labour Welfare (North) and Deputy Director Labour Welfare (South). Helplines (049-2724261, 0331-4436944, and 042-99260240) have also been set up for guidance.
Separately, during a meeting with Expo Association General Manager Achinoki Manatsu, the chief minister lauded the theme of World Expo 2025: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” She highlighted Punjab’s cultural heritage and economic potential, citing traditional crafts such as Ajrak and Blue Pottery, as well as the province’s rich natural resources.
Maryam Nawaz noted that Punjab’s artisans are preserving and promoting these crafts, with Pakistan’s pavilion already drawing 1.2 million visitors. The Expo Association welcomed her support, while Manatsu expressed gratitude for her acknowledgment of the Expo’s mission to enhance public facilities, save lives, and address global social challenges.
