Modern infrastructure to be introduced in Peshawar city: CM KP

PESHAWAR: While addressing a meeting regarding Transform Peshawar Plan at the Chief Minister House, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan announced to make Peshawar a modern city by implementing an integrated rolling plan, divided in a short-term and long-term strategy. It was proposed that it will be refined and expanded with the feedback of experts.

While emphasising on the improved quality of life that comes with having a modern infrastructure network and service delivery in Peshawar, he stressed on the need for focusing on infrastructure development of provincial metropolis and ordered immediate action to clear the land and other issues hindering the provision of utilities in Regi Model Town.

The main focus will be on key sectors including infrastructure development, traffic management, beautification, service delivery, recreation and sports, sanitation and drinking water, utilities and improvement of health and education facilities

Provincial Ministers Shahram Tarakai, Ishtiaq Umar, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Hisham Inamullah, Liaquat Khattak and advisers to chief minister Ziaullah Bangash, Kamran Bangash and MPA Arbab Jehandad, along with concerned officials attended the meeting.

As the meeting was briefed regarding the ongoing ADP, it was also informed of the development of surrounding areas of Ring Road from Pajagai Road to Warsak Road worth Rs500 million. Rs60 million out of the total amount was allocated in the current Annual Development Programme.

Under another ongoing scheme, work for the improvement and widening of the road from Mufti Mehmood Flyover to old Budhni Bridge up to Wahid Garhi worth Rs1,120 million was also in progress. Rs100 million of the total amount has been allocated in the current ADP, while Rs847 million has already been spent on the scheme.

The new schemes also include a multi-storey parking plaza at Chowk Yadgar worth Rs600 million, and construction of parking plaza at Namak Mandi at an estimated cost of Rs800 million.
