Islamabad: In a National assembly (NA) session presided by Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, a constitution amendment bill seeking the creation of South Punjab and Bahawalpur provinces was introduced.
Introduced by the PML-N’s senior lawmaker, Mr Sanaullah tabled the amendment bill 2019 demanding creation of new provinces in Punjab. The bill would assist in ending the feeling of deprivation floating among the people of South Punjab. The proposal already passed by the Punjab Assembly however had a split of opinions.
People from the erstwhile Bahawalpur and Southern Punjab supported the resolutions.
The Constitution Amendment Bill, 2019 was tabled before the house, needs over 2/3 majority for the bill to pass.
