
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to complete the draft for the local bodies system for Punjab. In regards to it, a committee has been constituted. It comprises of ministers from finance, housing, education, health and communication. Provincial LG minister Muhammad Basharat Raja will be the convener.
The draft is expected to be presented in Punjab Cabinet and Punjab Assembly soon. The proposed system aims to abolish town and district councils. These will be replaced with tehsil and districts governments. A village council will look after rural affairs while a neighborhood council will look after urban areas.
