
LAHORE: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is working on to develop 51 Miyawaki urban forests in Lahore to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.
PHA, Director General informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan will perform the groundbreaking ceremony of one of such parks.
Director-General added that Miyawaki Urban forests will be developed over 153kanals of land and 160,000 of saplings will be planted. Furthermore, the Director-General said that work on six forests has finished while work on the development of 41 forests is in progress. The work on the remaining four forests will start soon.
The Miyawaki method is developed by a Japanese botanist, Akira Miyawaki. The technique helps to develop forests 30 times dense and 10 times faster than the usual forests.
