PM launches ‘Hunarmand Pakistan’, allocates Rs30bn

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the ‘Hunarmand Pakistan’ programme on Thursday and announced the allocation of Rs30 billion for the initiative, with Rs10bn to be utilised in the first phase.

Hunarmand Pakistan is one of the six schemes under the Kamyab Jawan National Youth Development Framework, which is a comprehensive programme designed by the government for the socio-economic empowerment of youth at the national as well as international level.

The motto of Hunarmand Pakistan is ‘Skills for All’ and its purpose is to enhance the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector of the country.

At the launch, the Prime Minister said that skill training would be provided to 0.5 million youth under the programme, with an aim to train 175,000 in the first phase.

He termed the youth as the asset of Pakistan and said that the initiative will serve to polish their skills, which will be conducted in 400 technical training centres (70 in Madaris) across the entire country, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and newly added districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The premier further elaborated that 350 smart technical training centres would also be established and will be affiliated with international quality technical institutes.
