
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan performed ground-breaking of the 32-km-long Islamabad-Margalla Highway under the Margalla Avenue project.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Interior Mr. Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari, Chairman Standing Committee on Information Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed, Chairman CDA Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed, and other relevant officials.
The project connecting M1 to Murree Road (Bypassing BharaKahu) will be completed on a single tender basis.
The road project introduced under the Master Plan of Islamabad prepared in 1960 will start from G.T. Road, passing through various areas including Constitution Avenue before moving towards Bari Imam side, will finally culminate on Murree Road at Bhara Kahu
Under phase 1 of the project, GT Road will be linked to E-10 and Constitution Avenue.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed the authorities to complete the project on a fast track basis. Subsidiary organisations including Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and National Logistic Cell (NLC) will also carry out the construction of the Margalla Avenue project.
