
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate three projects in the federal capital, including early completion of Rawal Dam Interchange, Korang Bridge and PWD Underpass on Islamabad Expressway.
After the completion of the PWD underpass, the Express Highway will become signal free.
The Rawal Dam Interchange extension project will ease the flow of traffic in the vicinity.
The work on the announced projects will start after completion of legal and other formalities, informed Capital Development Authority (CDA) Planning and Engineering Member Dr Shahid Mehmood.
The projects have been awarded under a joint venture.
The corporations under the joint venture submitted bids worth Rs1.17 billion for the construction of Rawal Dam Interchange, which was 11% below the estimated total, Rs628.5 million for Korang Bridge, 17% below and Rs420 million for the PWD Underpass, which was 19% below the estimated cost.
In addition, construction work to link Sector G-7 and Sector G-8 on Faisal Avenue halted due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has also been restarted by the authority.
The authorities have directed the officials to ensure timely completion of the project while keeping in mind quality. They have also been directed to follow the issued SOPs to avert the spread of COVID-19.
