PESHAWAR: In a bid to boost tourism in the region, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has announced to transfer possession of properties to the provincial government.

The decision was revealed in a meeting by the tourism department provincial while briefing the K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on attracting maximum local and foreign tourists.

Furthermore, the Integrated Tourism Management Plan 2020 was also discussed in the meeting.

According to the plan, the local government, health, communication and works, home, rescue 1122, divisional commissioners and district administration have been tasked to establish tourist facilitation centres and ensure other necessary arrangements including provision of security for tourists, basic medical treatment facilities, food supply, rehabilitation of roads, fuel in cases of emergency, setting up sanitation facilities, maintaining cleanliness, and solid waste management.

In order to maintain the human resource liabilities of the PTDC, a grant of Rs360 million had been issued by the provincial government and an additional Rs250 million were allocated as its endowment fund.

To address a coordinated and uniform strategy for promoting provincial tourism, the authorities have set up a tourist facilitation hub at the provincial level to monitor the completion of the tasks. A mobile application and portal were also developed that will cater to the tourists by providing simplified necessary information.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari, K-P Finance Minister Taimur Salim Jaghra and Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, Advisor to CM Ajmal Wazir, K-P Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and K-P tourism secretary also participated in the meeting.
