Punjab govt proposes Rs4 trillion budget for FY 2022-23

LAHORE: The Punjab government is set to present its outlay budget today (Monday) for the next fiscal year 2022-23, with a total budget of Rs4 trillion.

The budget will focus majorly on development as Rs685 billion have been allocated to infrastructure growth. Furthermore, salaries and pensions of government employees are set to be increased by 15 percent.

A spokesperson for the government’s Finance Department stated that the next fiscal year’s budget will have a strong focus on and welfare schemes and lowering inflation.

The budget will be presented by Finance Minister Awais Leghari, as the Finance Department has sent him the key budget speech.

The budget holds key importance as this will be the incumbent government’s first budget presentation since holding power.
