Lahore: The Punjab Local Government Department has introduced a digital e-auction platform for leasing cattle markets across the province, marking a significant step toward transparency and efficiency in public resource management. The system will be overseen by the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC) and will cover all 112 registered cattle markets in the region.
Launched ahead of Eidul Azha, the e-auction system is expected to streamline the high-demand leasing process during the festive period. By moving to an online bidding mechanism, the provincial government aims to eliminate manual procedures that often contribute to delays and corruption. The platform also enables digital registration and payments, enhancing accessibility and operational ease for contractors.
Online registration is open until May 13, allowing contractors to complete the process and submit registration fees via the portal. The bidding phase will run from 9 a.m. on May 21 to 6 p.m. on May 23. Successful bidders will also be required to submit security deposits through the platform, with all bid results, documentation, and certificates issued digitally to ensure accountability.
The move aligns with Punjab’s broader governance reform agenda focused on digitization, transparency, and public service modernization.
In a parallel development, Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Secretary of the Punjab Local Government Department, inaugurated a new Waste Management Training Centre at the LWMC’s Thokar workshop, underlining the government’s continued emphasis on sustainability and urban development.
