Under the project, residents will receive upgraded water supply, electricity, gas, sewerage and drainage facilities. Streets, lanes and pathways will be paved, sanitation services enhanced and efforts made to promote better hygiene practices. Improved road connectivity is also part of the plan, with dual carriageways linking villages to nearby towns and markets.

To ensure a dependable household water supply, the project includes the construction of tube wells, mini-dams and water storage tanks. Low-cost convenience bazaars will also be set up to provide essential goods closer to residential areas.

PRMSC officials said contracts for service installation and upgradation will be awarded through an open auction scheduled for December 16. Funding for the project has already been released, and implementation will take place under the annual divisional development programme.

District-wise allocations include PKR 1.36 billion for 14 villages in Rawalpindi, PKR 712 million for six villages in Attock, PKR 535 million for four villages in Chakwal, PKR 280 million for three historic villages in Murree and PKR 494 million for four villages in Jhelum.

The initiative underscores the government’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure and raising living standards by developing safe, modern and sustainable communities across the Rawalpindi Division.
