Punjab to have a three phase development approach: Finance Minister

Lahore: In the speech at the ‘General Discussion on the Annual Budget 2019-20, Provincial Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht said that the development of Punjab and South Punjab will be divided into three phases.

In regards to strengthening the industrial sector, the first phase of development aims to provide best service deliveries in traffic for masses. It focuses on improving the human development indicators.

The second phase of development includes the provision of facilities to intermediate or medium sized cities. It aims in strengthening administration for which Rs3 billion have been marked for the secretariat of South Punjab. The provincial government is also initiating an urbanisation programme of five cities. It stands at a cost of Rs27 billion. Small and rural areas will be given complete attention.

The third phase of development will focus on the legislation for which work is already underway.
