Over 300 unapproved housing societies are operating in the garrison city, revealed RDA. The allottees have been asked to contact RDA to file a case against the illegal housing societies’ owners.

In this regard, the authority has directed all concerned departments to take strict actions against these projects and societies operating without getting the no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the civic agency. The authority further instructed the general public to visit RDA’s website or the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MPTE) Directorate before investing hard-earned money in any projects.

The authority will soon launch a plan devised to counter illegal societies, under which FIRs will be lodged against such societies. The authority will issue NOCs after the ban is lifted.

In addition, RDA has requested Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd., Islamabad Electric Supply Company, and Pakistan Telecommunication Limited not to provide services to illegal housing schemes.

As per details, 68 fake housing societies in Chakri and 275 illegal societies are operating in Kotli Sattian, Taxila, Jando, Fateh Jhang Road, Jalala, Niko, Wani, Paswal, Bajjar, Katia, Jhal Yari, New Murree, Patriata, Jhika Gali, Baroha, Manga, Angori, Nimbal, Khatar, Ghora Gali, Masyari Expressway, Chattar, Charlot, Salgaran, Salkhitar, Dahagal, Kak, Chaklala, Kalial, Pind Nasrullah, Chak Bailey, Garja, Adiala, Jodia and other areas.
