ISLAMABAD: As the Ministry of Housing proposed amendments to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Ordinance in the shape of the FGEHA Bill 2019, reservations were expressed by the Senate Standing Committee.
The bill was presented to amend and convert the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation into the FGEHA, to empower the subsidiary of the Ministry of Housing and Works to plan and acquire land for its housing projects.
The committee will take up the bill at its next meeting so the committee members can examine the bill in detail and avoid abuse of authority by allotting absolute power, said Committee Chair Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Mohammad Sahi.
The committee was asked by Housing and Works Minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema to pass the bill as soon as possible because the authority is supposed to provide houses to government employees.
