Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has ordered the vacation of at least seven residential houses of 600 yards within the premises of the well known Hill Park in Karachi. The KMC has given 30 days to the house owners to vacate the premises.
The illegally constructed houses sit on the amenity land of the Hill Park and are considered a part of the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS).
The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) had in 1972 given the Hill Park under the administrative control of the Karachi Municipal Corporation for maintenance and public recreation. Any such illegal occupation of public land is liable for removal under standing orders of the Supreme Court.
