Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved a record development budget of PKR 1.018 trillion for 2025–26, with a strong focus on Karachi’s water, transport and infrastructure needs.
The approval came during a high-level review meeting at the CM House. Out of the total allocation, PKR 85.5 billion has been reserved for Karachi under the Local Government Department. These funds will support major water supply, sewerage and drainage projects designed to strengthen the city’s services and resilience.
The chief minister instructed Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah to ensure timely fund releases and regular progress checks. He said the government remains committed to climate-resilient, inclusive and equitable growth in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

CM Shah said the upcoming year’s development plan focuses on climate-resilient infrastructure, rebuilding flood-hit public facilities, improving agriculture through climate-smart methods, reinforcing irrigation networks, expanding safe drinking water access and improving connectivity across Sindh.
He added that mass transit, social protection and inclusive economic growth remain central to the province’s development goals. He also committed to personally reviewing ongoing projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
