The committee will decide if the project launch will be a build-operate-transfer (BOT) or through a public-private partnership. The committee members finalized by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) will meet next week.

The capital’s water requirement has reached 150 MGD but presently it is only receiving 50 MGD. The Ghazi Barotha Project was proposed in 2006 for pulling in 200 million gallons of water at a cost of Rs37 billion.

Supposed to start by 2009 and complete by 2013, the project never initiated due to shortage of funds.
