
Lahore: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) signed a contract worth Rs9.98 billion with a joint venture (JV) namely Mohmand Dam Consultants Group (MDCG). It is in regards to consultancy services regarding supervision, construction design and contract management of Mohmand Dam Hydropower project.
WAPDA General Manager, also the Project Director of Mohmand Dam, Mohammad Javed Afridi signed the contract on Tuesday with MDCG representative Dr Tahir Mehmood Hayat.
MDCG is Nespak led, comprising of four foreign partners and sub-consultants including nine local firms.
Such a move is expected to improve capacity building of local engineering firms, getting them on parity with international consultants.
Being constructed on River Swat in Mohmand tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this project is capable of generating 800 megawatt of power. It has a storage capacity of 1.2 million acre feet.
