
LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) will be made an independent authority, said Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister Office.
Provincial Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Hashim Jawan Bakht, Adviser to the chief minister Dr Salman Shah, the chief secretary, MNA Khuram Shehzad, principal secretary to the chief minister, head of the Special Monitoring Unit, secretaries and other high officials were also present in the meeting.
Furthermore, proposals regarding the performance of Housing and Urban Development Department were also reviewed and the concerned officials have been directed to finalise a plan in this regard to help provide better and improved facilities for the public.
A committee has been constituted to review DC rates of property, informed Buzdar. Under the Provincial Finance Minister, final recommendations will be submitted by the committee within 15 days.
For the provision of clean water and improving the water quality, Mr Buzdar said that the Aab Pak Authority has been constituted.
A mega project in regard to improving the sewerage system in Lahore through Tunnel boring worth Rs14 billion is also was going to be launched soon, he further added.
The office of Aab Pak Authority will be set in some official building, told the housing and urban development secretary, as he gave a detailed briefing to the CM regarding the performance of the department and providing better civic facilities to the citizens.
