Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has decided to acquire 427 kanals of Mauza Kaliam land to relocate the wholesale market out of Raja Bazaar, Rawalpindi. The district administration has written to the Punjab agriculture department to start working on the plan.
Assistant Commissioner Naeem Afzal and the market committee have decided on two sites near the starting point of the proposed ring road in Channi Sher Alam. The market committee will purchase land and move the market out of Raja Bazaar.
The traders have however expressed concern over the amount of land to be procured, provided there are 700 plus dealers in the market. Traders have asked the National Health Minister Amir Mehmood Kiani for support in greater land allocation for wholesale market. He has assured them of his assistance.
