
Lahore: Contract for civil and electro-mechanical works of Mohmand Dam Project has been awarded. The joint venture comprises of China Gezhouba Group of Companies (CGGC) as the primary firm and DESCON of Pakistan as a partner. The dam will be built on Swat river in the tribal district Mohmand of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The contract signing ceremony was held at WAPDA House.
The Mohmand Dam Project is scheduled to complete in five years and eight months. The contract is worth Rs.183.523 billion, saving Rs.18 billion from the agreed PC-1. Annual benefits from the project have been estimated at Rs.51.6 billion.
Participants of the contract signing ceremony included WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd), WAPDA senior officials, project experts and higher authorities of CGGC and DESCON.
