Balochistan government to declare Gwadar SEZ as a tax-free zone

ISLAMABAD : In order to gain maximum dividends from CPEC, the Balochistan government is deliberating on declaring Gwadar SEZ as a tax-free zone. The government of Balochistan is also working to bring foreign investors to stimulate economic activities and generate revenues.

Furthermore, for the convenience of local and foreign investors, the one-window mechanism will also be set-up for ease of doing business.

According to the details, the Gwadar SEZ will be divided into three segments wherein an education city along with a diplomatic zone will also be established.

The work on the development of infrastructure is underway and a web of 250-km roads has been developed in Gwadar.

The official apprised that the government will soon acquire 200,000 acres of land for the SEZ; meanwhile, the government has laid down rules for the allotment of land in industrial zones. Only those industries will be allotted the land who set-forth a timeframe for the establishment of industry.
