During the session, ADB consultants briefed participants on ongoing and planned initiatives, including the Inter-City Bus Terminal. They said the project’s initial feasibility study has been completed and work is underway to finalise an appropriate financial model. The terminal is planned to be integrated with Islamabad’s Metro Bus and Electric Feeder Bus networks and will include modern electric vehicle charging facilities to support sustainable transport.

The ADB team also provided updates on the development of the Islamabad Transport Master Plan, for which the bank is offering technical assistance.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stressed the importance of environmentally sustainable infrastructure and requested ADB’s support in securing carbon credits for green projects. He said the Inter-City Bus Terminal would help reduce traffic congestion on major roads and provide efficient, modern transport options for residents.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of CDA and ADB to use technical expertise and resources to strengthen Islamabad’s sustainable transport system.
