Dadocha Dam’s construction in progress; Commissioner

RAWALPINDI: The construction of Dadocha Dam is in progress as about 12 per cent of work has been completed, informed Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt. (R) Muhammad Mehmood.

The dam project is aimed at the public benefit and its construction will be accommodating for the water shortage situation in Rawalpindi.

According to the details, excavation work on the spillway and perennial pipe flow is about to be completed. 

The construction of this priority project kicked off in December 2020, under which land worth Rs6.429 billion is being acquired. In this regard, the provincial government released an amount of Rs 1.5 billion. The dam has a total storage capacity of 60,000-acre feet.

Chairman, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) informed that the construction of the dam would help deliver about 25 million gallons of water per day to Rawalpindi.
