Rawalpindi: Punjab government has given a go-ahead for water projects; Daducha Dam and Chhann Dam for the Rawalpindi district in the next financial year 2019-20. Daducha Dam is expected to build on the outskirts of Rawalpindi near the village of Daducha whereas a water supply will be laid and a water treatment plant will be installed at Chhann Dam in its second phase.
The cost of the dam stands at Rs6 billion. The dam acquisition process will begin in July.
Additional funds worth Rs5 billion have also been approved owing to the efforts of PTI MPA Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi. Once complete, the project is expected to provide the twin cities with around 200 million gallons of water per day. 100 MGD will be supplied to Rawalpindi while the rest will go to Islamabad.
