He further said that such incentives would increase investments in the industrial sector and strengthen the national economy with a spillover effect on the poor section of the society.

He also reviewed the status of Allama Iqbal Industrial City (AIIC), one of the first major projects in Punjab under the CPEC scheme.

FIEDMC Chairman, Mian Kashif Ashfaq, briefed the adviser that the AIIC work had been expedited on the orders of the Prime Minister. He further added that new industrial units have been facilitated with the basic infrastructure including the supply of water, gas, and energy, and civic centres.

He also informed that around twenty industrial units have gone into operation which constitutes up to a one-third area of the AIIC. The remaining units are planned to start their production by the end of this year.

He said that PM Imran Khan has also called for facilitating all the investors through one-window operation and reducing the time of allotment.

He further briefed that the AIIC project covers an area of 3,300 acres and its operation was being expedited. The city includes a modern business centre, a furniture city, an apparel park, and a mega expo centre where ‘Made in Pakistan’ products will be featured and promoted to attract potential buyers, local and foreign.
