ISLAMABAD: To restrain the transmission of poliovirus, diseases and infections, authorities in Pakistan and Iran have agreed to establish a health post at Taftan border.

The agreement made was based on the side-lines of the 66th Session of Regional Committee Meeting of World Health Organisation, after Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza met Minister for Health and Medical Education of Iran Saeed Namaki in Tehran.

To curb the spread of viruses, which has now become a routine, pilgrims travelling back to Pakistan from Iran and Iraq will be tested. If an infection is found, the quarantine will be ensured to safeguard other people from diseases.

The post will be made functional within one month after a space for setting up a health post at the border complex will be finalised.
