ICT administration extends ban on launching housing societies in capital

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to counter fraudulent housing societies, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has imposed a two-month ban on the launch of housing societies in the capital.

The decision was highlighted by the district magistrate to curb illegal housing societies from scamming the general public and protect public peace.

As per the official notification, the authority has also prohibited published advertisements of any housing scheme, sale of plots, invitations applications to deposit membership fee or cost of plots.

Now, the owners will have to obtain a legal permit and from the office of the district magistrate after carrying out all codal formalities.

In addition, the ICT Administration has also prohibited various activities that include distribution of flyers and pamphlets, wall-chalking, pasting posters on walls and digging out stones through blasting for another two months.
