Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected progress on two major infrastructure projects in the capital, the T-Chowk Flyover and the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, during a site visit to review development work.
Officials reported that construction on the T-Chowk Flyover has reached nearly 60% completion and is expected to open for traffic by early December, while the Shaheen Chowk Underpass is set to be completed within a month.
Minister Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the ongoing pace and quality but directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and contractors to ensure 24/7 work operations to meet deadlines. “There will be no compromise on quality or speed,” he said, urging authorities to accelerate progress while maintaining standards.
The minister noted that the T-Chowk Flyover will establish a signal-free corridor from GT Road to Islamabad, easing congestion and improving traffic flow. Similarly, the Shaheen Chowk Underpass will enhance connectivity and modernise the city’s transport network.
CDA’s Member Engineering briefed Naqvi on both projects’ progress, assuring timely completion through efficient resource allocation. The minister reaffirmed that reducing traffic woes for citizens, particularly during school and peak hours, remains a top government priority.
