According to Asghar, the Peshawar Development Authority had already sent out several notices through its building control wing and has asked police to register FIRs against the illegal housing societies.

With reportedly sufficient evidence in hand, the district administration can impose a blanket ban on any housing schemes being established without prior approval from concerned departments within Peshawar.

As per Asghar’s statement, the order will be carried out forthwith and remain enforced for 30 days unless modified or withdrawn.

The Peshawar district administration is actively working to deter or demolish illegal structures, as they recently launched a campaign against encroachments at Warsak Road and razed at least 25 shops.
