PM approves upgradation package for GB

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday approved the upgradation package for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) which is anticipated to be announced in the next few days during his visit to GB.

As per the officials, PM presided over a high-level meeting on the uplift of Gilgit-Baltistan, which was attended by Finance Minister Hammad Azhar, Communication Minister Murad Saeed, Planning Minister Asad Umer, Information Technology Minister Aminul Haq, and Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid.

In the meeting, the PM discussed and approved the historic package for developmental work in Gilgit-Baltistan. This package will introduce effective solutions to the issues faced by the region and will create various employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister also apprised that the upgradation of Gilgit-Baltistan is a major priority of the incumbent government and the region needs to be developed for attracting tourism as it has a huge untapped potential. In this regard, special attention is needed for promotional and environmental protection activities in the region.
