The commission has been tasked to inspect all irregular private housing schemes and land subdivisions, both – developed and those being constructed without the development authority’s approval. The housing schemes will be regularised after examining each case thoroughly.

However, in case of incompletion of any imposed penalty, including non-payment of fine, non-rectification, non-fulfilment of a condition, within a given deadline will result in revocation of the order of regularization, and action will be taken against the involved parties.

The five-member commission will comprise of – a town planner, a civil engineer, an environmental expert, and a legal expert – each with a professional experience of 20 years, and will be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan or of a high court, appointed after consultation with the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.
