RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) approved the establishment of economic zones along the Rawalpindi Ring Road, which will be governed according to the civic body’s zoning regulations.
The decision was announced in the 49th governing body meeting of the RDA, presided over by its chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza.
Members of the Provincial Assembly including Latasub Satti, Haji Amjad Mahmood Chaudhry, and Nasreen Tariq, RDA Director General Ammara Khan, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood and many others were among the attendees of the meeting.
The area for the economic zones will be earmarked after the provincial government procures land for the proposed Ring Road Project.
The Rawalpindi’s commissioner will head the Ring Road project as the project director, which will be executed through the Lahore Ring Road Authority instead of RDA.
In addition, a residential project titled ‘RDA City’ spreading over an area of 3,000-kanal was also approved by the RDA.
A five-member technical committee under the supervision of MPA Latasub Satti was formed by the governing body to overlook matters pertaining to the announced project.
